"Voice Diary"

CONCERT PROGRAM FOR A CAPPELLA VOCAL ENSEMBLE

The team of the Vocal Art Network invites you to take a closer look at a crucial period in Lithuanian music history - the composers and their work who made their debut in the 8th and 9th decades of the last century. Against the backdrop of significant political, social, and value shifts, their music explored new forms, means of expression, or even the relationship with the listener, while also combining modernism and tradition, turning to (neo)romantic or (neo)classical sound. Some of them gravitated towards experimental, structural, or mathematical methods in their creative work, while others leaned towards poetry

"ritUAlas"

CONCERT PROGRAM, PERFORMANCE: LITHUANIAN AND UKRAINIAN FOLK SONGS WITH ELECTRONICS

The brutalities of the Russian terrorist-perpetrated genocide in Ukraine, the heroism of Ukrainians, and the rich cultural heritage of that country have all become a daily leitmotif for the people of Lithuania. Ukraine is always with us – if not at the center of our thoughts, then at least in the corner, even when we sleep. This concert program is dedicated to exploring emotions through the use of Ukrainian and Lithuanian folk music, which we have lived with since February 24, 2022. During the concert program, we will present a fusion of Lithuanian and Ukrainian folk music

"Legends of Forest Deities"

CONCERT PROGRAM FOR VOICE AND PIANO

The team of the Vocal Art Network is delighted to share with you a pantheistic, Italian-Lithuanian, or perhaps Lithuanian-Italian program that evokes archetypes. This program, consisting of musical compositions created by two composers from different cultures and creative contexts, is based on the mystical power of nature, the importance of humanity and the Earth, and the influence of traditional culture on art. The program includes two vocal-piano opuses: Ottorino Respighi's cycle of five songs 'Deità silvane' | 'Forest Deities' (1917) and Feliksas Romualdas Bajoras' 'Suite of Legends' (1968)

Pianist Vincenzo De Martino performs music by various Italian or Lithuanian composers (M.K. Čiurlionis, A. Remesa, B. Dvarionas, A. Šenderovas) during the concert

"Stories of Hanging Alleys"

CONCERT PROGRAM FOR A VOCAL QUINTET, STONES, AND SHRUTI BOX

The Vocal Art Network ensemble, together with Lithuanian composers, delved into the specifics of composing, performing, and notating works based on the aesthetics of ambiguity, and prepared an intriguing program of contemporary music. Collaborating with Austrian composer and conductor Rupert Huber and singer-art historian Doris Huber during their residency at the Druskininkai Arts Residency, they prepared a captivating program that will surprise the audience with unexpected style combinations, blending drones, ritual, academic, and acoustic music styles.

"Silent Meadows"

CONCERT PROGRAM FOR TWO VOICES AND ELECTRONICS

The idea for this program arose while listening to the drone music of American minimalists. By combining the 'drone' technique with Lithuanian folk melodies and atmospheric environmental sounds, the creators present a meditative and soothing musical material. In this musical program, folk melodies from Lithuanian regions such as Mažoji Lietuva, Aukštaitija, Žemaitija, and Dzūkija are used, as well as folk songs created on themes of war, love, and family.

"1.5 kg of Music, Please!"

XVI CENTURY MADRIGAL PROGRAM FOR A CAPPELLA VOCAL ENSEMBLE

The program is inspired by William Shakespeare's play 'The Merchant of Venice.' In the dialogue of the characters, the phrase 'if you do not return the required sum at the agreed time, such forfeit shall be exacted from you: a pound of flesh from your own body, from the part which I shall choose' can be heard. This phrase reveals the everyday culture, realities, and attitudes towards the human body and life in the Renaissance. The performers gathered for this project have chosen Renaissance madrigals, the themes of which merge into one marketplace narrative. The marketplace, in the early 16th century, was the primary location for stories, bargains, and transactions

In the program: compositions by Claudio Monteverdi, Pierre Certon, Josquin Des Prez, Jacob Arcadelt, Clement Janequin, Orlando di Lasso, Pierre Passereau, Adrian Willaert, Thoinot Arbeau, and Henry XIV
